1. Acceptance

These terms form an agreement between you and GoalWord. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy and cookie policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. The game

GoalWord is a free daily football player guessing game. You do not need an account. Your game progress, streak, and statistics are stored in your browser, not on our servers. We do not offer prizes, entry fees, or real-money competitions. The game is for entertainment.

We may change the rules, the clue order, the database, the reset time, or the available game modes at any time. We may add or remove players, fix errors, or discontinue a mode. We do not guarantee that a particular player, clue, or feature will remain available.

3. Eligibility

You may use GoalWord if you can form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The site is not directed at children under 13.

4. Licence to use the site

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use GoalWord for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may share your result and link to the site. You may not copy, scrape, republish, or redistribute substantial parts of the site, the player database, or the guides without our written permission.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use bots, scripts, or automated tools to access the site in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
• attempt to interfere with the security, availability, or integrity of the site;
• scrape or harvest the player database, clues, or guide content for a competing product;
• use the site to break the law, infringe the rights of others, or distribute malware;
• misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with GoalWord; or
• remove, obscure, or circumvent advertising labels, consent controls, or copyright notices.

6. Intellectual property

The GoalWord name, logo, site design, game code, clue text, and guides are owned by GoalWord or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The player illustrations are original abstract artwork, not photographs.

Club names, competition names, and player names are used for identification and descriptive purposes. They remain the property of their respective owners. GoalWord is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any league, club, player, competition, FIFA, UEFA, Wordle, or The New York Times.

7. Advertising and third-party links

The site is supported by advertising. Ads are labelled and placed in page content. We do not control the content of third-party ads and are not responsible for the products or services they promote. Your interactions with advertisers are between you and the advertiser.

The site may link to third-party websites. We provide those links for convenience and do not endorse or control their content. Read their terms and privacy policies before using them.

8. Availability

We aim to keep GoalWord available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The site may be unavailable during maintenance, hosting incidents, or circumstances beyond our control. We may suspend or withdraw the site, in whole or in part, at any time.

9. Disclaimers

GoalWord is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the player data, clues, or guides are complete, accurate, or current at all times.

Football facts change: players transfer, competitions add teams, and records are broken. We review the database, but errors can occur. If you spot one, please tell us. The game is for entertainment and should not be relied on for betting, fantasy sports, journalism, or any decision of consequence.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including your mandatory consumer rights.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoalWord and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the exclusions and limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GoalWord and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we handle data. It is part of these terms. In short: the game stores progress in your browser, and advertising is controlled by your consent choice.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If a change is material, we will make it clear on this page. Continued use of the site after the change means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
