World CupQuestion 1 of 20
Score 0

Which country won the first FIFA World Cup in 1930?

Pick an answer to see the explanation.

No timer. Take your time.

What it covers

A broad football quiz, not a list of random facts

The questions are chosen to cover different parts of the game. You will not get twenty questions about one club or one tournament. The mix is deliberate: history, the women’s game, rules, tactics, and the stories that make football worth arguing about.

How scoring works

  • One point per correct answer.
  • No negative marking and no timer.
  • Every answer includes an explanation.

World Cup history

Winners, finals, Golden Boots, and the moments that defined the tournament.

Women’s football

World Cup winners, final heroics, and the pioneers of the women’s game.

Clubs and transfers

European giants, famous stadiums, nicknames, and career moves.

Rules and tactics

Substitutions, positions, formations, and the language of the modern game.

How to use it

A football quiz for a break, a group chat, or a pub night

The interactive quiz is built for one person on a phone or laptop. Answer a question, read the explanation, and move on. At the end you get a score out of 20 and a compact result you can copy into a group chat.

If you are running a quiz for other people, the format is less useful — everyone can see the answer. Use the 40-question pub quiz guide instead. It separates questions and answers, sorts them by difficulty, and includes a few tie-breakers.

Why multiple-choice?

Multiple-choice questions are quick to play and easy to score. They also let us include questions that would be unfair as free-text prompts, such as “which year was the first Women’s World Cup held?” or “how many substitutions are allowed?”. The explanation is the important part: it turns a guess into a fact you can remember.

Want a harder challenge?

Try the daily football player guessing game. Instead of four options, you get six guesses, six progressive clues, and comparison feedback. It is a different kind of football knowledge — more process of elimination than recall.
